mindmeister seems to have a RESTful api. wonder about the amount of work it would take to glue together checkvist api with theirs.

+1 for this one. my use case: I often have hard time deciding whether to have items as subitems of 'xx' them into separate lists.

Really, they are often subitems of a big list. But that big list may have so many items that organizing it becomes very painful. When I find an item I want to move, I then need to search for the parent item I want to move it under. So I end up 'xx'ing the parent items, so they can easily be moved things under. But here I lose flexibility: I now have to move explicitly to the new lists to view their contents, and they are now out of context.

So being allowed to show contents of a linked list inline would help me get the best of both worlds: give me quick move targets 'inside' the current list, and see everything in context.

    Really good and useful request.

Regarding accidental data loss: Checkvist Pro account gives you up to 10 daily backups of all your lists. Not the same, but may help in some cases.

A middle way in case preserving entire state (including version history for task contents) is too much work: only preserve when a task was created and list order any given time. So one could roughly see which tasks existed at a point of time though the original contents of a task may have been different originally.

What Jop said. Also, this being available in tasks would help me look at my ^asap tasks more often. They otherwise get ignored all too easily.

a drag'n'drop -based UI would also benefit desktop users with mouse preference.

Naturally, fall back to textarea where contentEditable is not available.

Thanks. It is kind of in the middle/in the way right now though, perhaps move it so that it is only 10px or so from the top of the viewport? Also, maybe an 'x' to get it closed, or a (shorter?) timeout - or just move it to another corner of the screen at mouse onhover?

Actually, you can delete lists from the list index page. ‘mm’ shortcut has UNDO available. Could you please be more specific, what you suggest to implement in this issue?

    Thanks!

Funny, I could swear that there was no 'delete' for selected lists earlier.

Well enough, undo for moving items also work - though it does not delete the list I just accidentally created.

I think I should probably add a new wish - the description of this suggestion matches what I am looking for, not the title. What I am mostly missing is an ability to browse through all my lists when moving a task - I do not always remember which lists I have and thus, whether or not I already have an appropriate list for something or if I need to create a new one. Recognition Rather Than Recall at http://www.useit.com/papers/heuristic/heuristic_list.html .

I like the fact that checkvist lists are uncluttered, i.e. unlike google notebook, you don't have the list of lists always visible. However, as you already have mouse dNd with shift down, it would be great that for example by dragging an item to the far left side of the window, you could make checkvist push a list of lists from the left side, animating/pushing the main content to the right by the width of the list.

Then if you had too many lists to show, you could just keep dragging and move your mouse down in the list to reveal items (lists) further down the list of lists, and then drop the item to the appropriate list.

I think he means to be able to tag certain items in a list as tasks, such that you could filter the list to show only them.
