Allow search / filter by #tag to use OR and NOT
Allow the use of an OR connector to filter by #tag1 OR #tag2. Perhaps also allow OR for a general text search.

Keep it simple!
You have an excellent product that is fast and simple to use. Everyone will have different ideas on how to improve it (time tracking/project management etc) and I hope these get added but please make sure that at it's heart the product remains a fast and simple way to administer hierarchical lists. I have rejected so many other products because they take so long to do simple tasks which is where your product excels! Keep up the good work!

Embed existing lists/sublists, not just hyperlinks (similar to symlinks). Was: checklist of checklists
Active links. Ability to nest checklists. Checklist could be your own or someone elses that you are collaborating on. This provides the opportunity for more complex tasks
172 votesCheckvist now allows easy linking and a good preview of the linked tasks, please see this blog post for details and demo:

Postpone Task: Hide until given date
Put a task off until later. Either indefinitely, or have it appear again at a given date. For instance, if I need to have my car inspected, I can't do that until it is due for inspection next year. So if I create the task now, it should be either hidden, or placed in a "scheduled for later" folder until I can act on it. (This request will depend on due dates being implemented first.)

Save multiple revision
To make sure that we don't accidentally destroy our precious notes or that those we share with sabotage them, support a revision history per note as Google Docs does.
124 votesReally good and useful request.
Regarding accidental data loss: Checkvist Pro account gives you up to 10 daily backups of all your lists. Not the same, but may help in some cases.

Custom keyboard shortcuts/keybindings (ability to control VIM style)
While not select(entered) and editing on an item, it would be nice to be able to control movement of items VIM style.
e.g. h/j/k/l=(left/down/up/right)
Also, the ability to go down a certain number of rows.
e.g. 3j = (go down three)
Also, allow ctrl+alt+, and ctrl+alt+. to be used by just pressing , and .

Allow to switch checklist mode into a Gantt mode
I love checkvist and would like to use it like a gantt projet, I would like a timeline (it is a bit like an other idea of this forum about the deadline) for each list / sublist and associate ressources (not only a contact) to a list (task).
There are some good idea there: http://gantter.com
It could be interesting to switch between the current view of the like and a new mode "Gantt" oriented where lists become tasks and ressources become visibles.

language versions (internationalization)
This service is perfect. But it would be more popular in my homecountry if it would speak my mother's tongue. Fortunately, there's not many words to translate. I would help translating (like I did at disqus.com).

Thanks a lot! We’ll be happy to use your generous offer as soon as we have the internationalization infrastructure in Checkvist!

Multiselect, merge and split successive tasks
Merge and Multiselect Problem:
Task x is Call Mike,
Task y is Call John and
Task z is Call Cathy. What you want to do is merge these tasks. The way to do this should be to multi-select task x, y and z and press "mm" (for example) and tasks x, y and z are merged into one task ("Call Mike Call John Call Cathy")
Split Problem:
Task x is "Call Mike Call John Call Cathy." You want to break task x into three separate tasks. They way to do this should be to go to the end of "Call…38 votes -
Allow global styling by the user, font family, font size, line density, colors
Allow me to set the styling for an outline. Looks like there are fairly limited elements -- three fonts, line spacing at perhaps three levels, and indent spacing(s). Might also allow the expand/contract symbol to vary.
I consider this quite important, as I'd like styling to squeeze more on a page, with tighter spacing and smaller fonts. Web 2.0 sort of styling is nice for presentation, but not so practical for working documents.
34 votesBy the moment, you can modify Checkvist presentation in the PRO plan. You can alter some colors, and provide advanced custom CSS styles which allow to change the font size. But this requires hard CSS coding. We need to provide simple way to specify different styles for a list.
The sample CSS for reducing font size in the list is:
ul.topLevel li { font-size: 12px;}
ul.topLevel ul li, ul.topLevel ul li.task { font-size: 10px;}Some more customisation samples can be seen in this list: https://checkvist.com/checklists/486715
