Collapse/Expand tasks: Allow folding or unfolding of 1, 2 or all levels
Like the Freemind mindmapping software and probably other programs, allow users to unfold just the top level tasks, the top and second level tasks or all tasks . . . and allow the reverse.

provide a collapse all feature for hierarchical lists
Checkvist remember which folders you've left open between sessions but I would like to be able to collapse all open folders if need be with a quick key combo
2 votesPlease see collapse/expand command in Checkvist toolbar. Key shortcuts are described there as well.

Separator should not prevent parent task from being marked as done
Normally, when all subtasks are done, the parent task are automatically marked as done. However, if one of the subtasks is a separator, this does not happen.

Print should inherit filter (or have its own)
I want to take a snap shot of a view that I have filtered and/or collapsed and send it to someone. Sounds simple enough...
2 votesI think Checkvist permalinks have this functionality already.
Also, print view inherits the current filter state.
All this should work for quite some time already

Add visual separation in mobile interface
Tested on Opera mini on Android.
The list looks like one big item, without any separation. Especially on small screens.
Simplicity rocks!
2 votesWe’ve made multi-line tasks more compact, hope this helps.

Keyboard shortcut to save a new note
To save having to reach for the mouse to click the Save button after typing a note could there be keyboard shortcut to finish the entry (hitting enter saves the note but starts a new note). Shit-Enter is taken. Maybe F2 to end the edit (because F2 starts the edit).

Provide 'im' shortcut to invoke 'Import' dialog window
Checkvist's keyboard support is really useful for adding tasks quickly. But it's often useful to add a bunch of tasks all at once.
This can happen, for example, when I copy a list of tasks I got by email and just want to paste them all into checkvist in one shot. Currently, I have to add each one separately, which is a bit annoying.
Here's another example where this would be useful for me. When I start on a writing project, at some point I know how many chapters or sections there will be in the final product. Right now,…

#private tag for published lists
There should be a tag #private that ALWAYS keeps a task just to the list's author, even of published and shared lists.

Make task state radio buttons larger in mobile version
Current size of "open", "close",... radios on edit task screen is not big enough for usable touch. I usualy get into other fields when tried to push "closed" on task. It would be good to make them bigger.

Delete a list from within it
I'd like to be able to delete a list while I'm viewing it, instead of having to go to the all-list view first. Sometimes you just want to take a quick look at what's inside something, and if it's old stuff, delete it there and then. After deletion, the user could be taken back to the all-list view.
2 votesYou can delete a list from the drop-down popup on the right side of the list name. This popup has some other goodies as well :)

Add simple word count functionality
I use Checkvist for writing, and I find that looking at collapsed outlines, although brilliant for structure, creates a complete disregard for document length! A simple 'Word Count' menu command would be of help.

Backup Rotation Schedule (Add Monthly/Bi-Monthly)
In addition to the daily backups, could you add 30 day and 60 day backup rotations too. This would aid long-term users who may need more than 10 days of backups.
2 votesJust released: 30 days backup + Dropbox integration, http://checkvist.tumblr.com/post/84108859311/improved-backup-dropbox-integration-and-some-fixes

Display countdown to due date
Feature description: user could select to display the due date in two ways:
- the current way, that is "weekday, mmm dd"
or:
- "in nn" where nn = days leftSince this would be useful only for some tasks, perhaps the implementation should be to provide a markdown syntax. Such a date parser could give more flexibility to date display in general.

Slow if there are > 1000 items in the list
Performance problem, looks like Checkvist is having problem with large lists.
At least copy/paste operation is slow.2 votes -

(Different) shortcut for jumping to due tasks page
Currently the shortcut to jump to the due tasks page is 'dd'. But this one also pops up the due date dialog when an item is selected. So my flow to go the due tasks page is (passive aggressively) hit ESC for a number of times and then 'dd'.
It would be more convenient to have shortcut that always behaves the same, no matter of the context.
2 votesSince the last year, there is `gd` keyboard shortcut for that. Also, there is `gh` and `gt` for tags and Home.

Date Stamp closed checklist item
It would be useful if a date stamp was added when a checklist item is closed, as is done with notes.
It's actually rather useful to know when a thing was closed out and would be helpful if things were archived out into a text file.

Window should scroll when moving tasks using the keyboard
When moving tasks using ctrl+arrow keys, if the task is moved off the bottom of the screen the screen doesn't scroll to follow it.
Observed in Firefox 3 on Linux.
