Provide 'im' shortcut to invoke 'Import' dialog window
Checkvist's keyboard support is really useful for adding tasks quickly. But it's often useful to add a bunch of tasks all at once.
This can happen, for example, when I copy a list of tasks I got by email and just want to paste them all into checkvist in one shot. Currently, I have to add each one separately, which is a bit annoying.
Here's another example where this would be useful for me. When I start on a writing project, at some point I know how many chapters or sections there will be in the final product. Right now, I have to add each chapter separately, which involves writing one task, copying the text, pasting it into a new task, modifying the text a bit (e.g., "Chapter 1" becomes "Chapter 2"), and repeating until I've got them all. If I could add them all at once, the process would be similar, but I'd save a bunch of tedious steps.
Supporting hierarchies (using indentation, perhaps?) would make it even more useful, because I could copy the whole structure of the first chapter to the second, with little effort.
Checkvist already lets you modify most of the settings (due date, tags...) by simply editing the text. So this actually makes it even easier to add multiple tasks than on the other task managers I've tried where you have to use a complicated form for all those options.
But there are some settings that cannot be modified that way (at least at the moment), like priority/color. Adding multiple tasks at once, it should be easier to bulk modify those settings for new tasks as well. Maybe a better way to do this part would be to add smart syntax for priorities.

Looks like you've done it! It works great! Thank you.

"im" sounds good to me :)

Yes, please, let's make the priority smart syntax a separate issue.
As for the 'import' shortcut, we'll think of it ('im'? 'it'? 'ii' was reserved for 'inline' or 'include list' operation), but even now you can press 'aa' on any selected task and then arrow up to set focus on the Import menu item. Not as fast as a separate shortcut, but something :)

Also, could you add a shortcut for the import? Maybe "ii" or something like that? I'll use it often enough to justify it!

That's exactly what I was looking for!
The only thing missing is smart syntax for priority. Should I create a separate entry for that?

I think you need to try out Checkvist's contextual import. There's a blog post with more details: http://checkvist.tumblr.com/post/9839124695/quick-add-tasks-with-contextual-import
Is it what you were looking for?
