Add Smart Syntax for priority and color
It would be really convenient if I could specify the priority or color when I create or edit the task using Smart Syntax.
This may seem trivial but the Smart Syntax is really convenient for tags and dates because it helps keep your frame of reference while you're still thinking about the task.
It would also be really helpful when importing multiple tasks, including a hierarchy of tasks. Just as checkvist can be asked to parse the tags and dates on each line, it could also parse priorities and colors.
My suggestion is to introduce another prefix character, such as the exclamation mark (!), followed by a number. So priority 1 for a an urgent task could show up as:
Hop on one leg! ^asap !1
This would also solve another problem, which is that I'm not accustomed to associating 6 different priorities with colors. The colors don't tell me much - Have to interpret them every time - but the number of the priority is much easier (for me) to scan.
Showing the actual priority on the task itself, like tags and dates, is really important to me. It's especially important when the tasks are NOT sorted by priority, because the priority kind of gets lost, especially when you have a lot of color-(en)coded tasks in your view.
Setting priorities with syntax like !5 has been implemented.

This hasn't been a major priority for me, but it is a nice tweak - especially for adding from the web clipper or the mobile app.

I've only recently started using colors for prioritization and a Smart Syntax option such as !1 or !2 or !3 would be really handy to add colors directly from the web clipper. Thanks, Bob

This could work for mobile as well - that's why I'm voting for it!

Greta suggestion - and suggested something along these lines on Twitter recently. Also, with having color and/or prinorty as part of smart syntax means that we can use it when emailing tasks.

Noam, thanks a lot for the thoughtful suggestion. Quite in the spirit of Checkvist. I'm agree that our mix of colors and priority wasn't the good idea, and people mostly use colors as colors, not as priority.
Still, we have to figure out how to show task priority (not with color) in non-obtrusive way.
