move item up and down regardless of hierarchy level (similar to drag and drop)
The current way to move items up and down (CTRL+up/down) is useful and should be kept like it is.
But sometimes I want to move an item exactly to a position that has a different indent level.
Let's say I have inserted a new item via email -> now it is on top of the list at level 1. I can't indent it to level 3 because there is no item above it and I even don't care if the correct indent level would be 3 or 4 or whatever.
The easiest way is to just drag-and-drop it to the…1 voteCurrently should work with

[Bug] New task input field doesn't always get the focus
If the task that is highlighted/selected has sub-tasks and is collapsed -> hitting enter creates an input field BUT this field doesn't get the focus - so simply typing the text doesn't work

Sort by modified date (aka 'last update')
It would be really helpful to have a 4th sort option within a list, to sort by modified date (aka 'last update'). This could apply only to the parent task level so that any details under that task would retain the custom order set by the user. Or have the option to apply the sort to 1, 2, or 3 levels deep to accommodate more working styles (even better).
This would also add consistency to the experience since the lists themselves already support sorting by last update (both on the homepage and in the list navigation menu at the top…

Browser bookmarklet: show top sub-levels of target list
When dropping a URL to list via the bookmarklet, the bookmarklet shows all lists. It would be great if it could show also the top 1, 2 or 3 top level of the list hierarchy.
It's ok if it can't show all, or if it can't show the most current. If some of the most important ones will be shown, that would enable dropping a link to List:Work/project/monthly meeting topics

Better TODAY due list view!
When looking at the TODAY due list, it is really hard to understand my tasks if I don't see my hierarchies... Even if I go and also add the top level tasks, it doesn't show up indented in the today due list.....
VERY hard to understand my Today Due lists..... Also for my boss as I need to report on my tasks every morning...5 votes -
Display countdown to due date
Feature description: user could select to display the due date in two ways:
- the current way, that is "weekday, mmm dd"
or:
- "in nn" where nn = days leftSince this would be useful only for some tasks, perhaps the implementation should be to provide a markdown syntax. Such a date parser could give more flexibility to date display in general.

Way to Hide the Hints Sidebar when on the Due list
The Hints sidebar can be hidden in each list. But, when you click on "due", there's no way to hide it. On a small laptop screen, every little bit of space counts. And on a desktop, it's nice to be able to put checkvist next to my calendar and email.

Keyboard shortcuts for setting task priority (color)
I use the priority (color) function heavily. It would be a big speed and enjoyment boost if I could specify the priority (color) on the fly with the familiar Checkvist double-tap shortcut method:
'rr' for red
'bb' for blue
'gg' for greenThis would be much more fluid than having to reach up to the number row every time. It seems these codes aren't currently being used by other shortcuts unless I'm mistaken, so why not put them to good use for accessing an important function?
Thanks for considering.

List a task's tags alphabetically
Right now a tag's tasks seem to be listed in the order in which they were added.
However, this introduces confusion when skimming.
Consider this example:
Task A #apples #oranges #grapes
Task B #grapes #apples #bananas #oranges
There is only one difference in the tagging, but it's hard to find.
If the tags were alphabetized, it would look like this:
Task A #apples #grapes #oranges
Task B #apples #bananas #grapes #oranges
I encountered this problem when using (and modifying) Warren Harrison's "Checkvist TimeCalc" Chrome extension.
I want the time-related tags to appear at the end of the tag sequence, but…

Allow certain actions to be performed on the list to apply to tasks in the "Due" view
For example, if I've selected a list at https://checkvist.com/checklists#due, I'd like to be able to type "dd" to invoke the Due date control, and have the date I select be applied to all of the tasks under the selected list. And if I type "cd", I'd like the "Clear due date" action to be performed on all the tasks under the selected list.

Display collapsed list items when searching by tag
I have a list of shows I want to watch, but when I search for my "watch"-tag, every collapsed list of (untagged) subtasks is opened and I see every single episode, rather than just the titles of the shows. What's worse, when I clear the search the list is still completely expanded and I have to manually collapse everything again!
My suggestion is to /do/ show every untagged sub-item when searching, but to show the tagged items collapsed by default, or keep them collapsed/expanded based on their state in the un-searched list.
Maybe there could be a setting to show…3 votes -
Ctrl+Z is buggy, deleting parent tasks too often.
Accidently pressing delete instead of left and deleting important parent tasks to find that Ctrl+Z is buggy and sometimes fails to recover the item. Perhaps display or state how many undos are possible.

Backup Rotation Schedule (Add Monthly/Bi-Monthly)
In addition to the daily backups, could you add 30 day and 60 day backup rotations too. This would aid long-term users who may need more than 10 days of backups.

When mouse is over a task and the shift key is pressed, the cursor should turn into a hand, indicating the ability to drag.
I love the all the keyboad controls, but I do occasionally use the mouse and it seems a little weird to drag something when the mouse looks like a cursor.
