How can we improve Checkvist?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. Allow export to Mediawiki format

  3. Expand Checkvist API (for example put tags in task description)

    The available API is great, but things are missing, like the ability to work with tags !

    I have a few ideas of additionnal clients / tools, but i would need a full access to the data stored in each task and would be to create a task with all available informations, including tags.

  4. Certain keyboard shortcuts work only for US keyboard

    The shortcuts '?' and '/' don't work on my Danish keyboard where I type shift-plus (to the right of the 0-key) and shirt-7, respectively to get them. when I switch to US-keyboard, they work as expected

  5. provide a shortcut to paste as sub-task

    Default Ctrl+V pastes as a peer, perhaps Ctrl+Shift+V to paste as a subordinate.

  6. Save to dropbox

    It would be cool to be able to save your checkvists or at least automatically export to dropbox or desktop.

    This way I could be secure that I had them elsewhere in plaintext and also edit them on the go and offline (and have changes synced back to checkvist)

  7. USA vs European Date format

    In the US dates are entered MONTH: DAY, YEAR, in Europe DAY, MONTH, YEAR. Figure out how to address the problem for due dates

  9. Archiving notes so they can be viewed again rather than deleting them forever

    I like to use notes to add additional information or status updates to a task such as "Emailed this person on such and such date, waiting on response", "Response received" etc ... and when a note becomes obsolete I delete it so I'm no longer distracted by outdated information but sometimes those notes have useful info, numbers, hyperlinks etc I'd like to retrieve or search for in future. It would be nice if notes could be archived the same way tasks are completed simply by pressing the space bar when highlighted and if Hide Completed is selected then they disappear…

  10. Show invalidated tasks when hide completed tasks selected

    This follows on from my previous suggestion:

    As 'invalidated tasks' are not tasks, I would like to be able to see them even when 'hide completed tasks' is checked. At present they are hidden when this option is selected.

  12. Sort by date added / reverse date added

    I'd like to be able to be able to (temporarily and permanently) sort lists by the date items were added. Also in reverse order.

    Similarly, it would be good to sort by last edited date (as opposed to created)

  13. Let 'mm' move items to a new list from the Due screen

    This would be very useful and is line with making as many keyboard shortcuts as possible work on the Due screen.

    For my case, I have an active to do list that I work from on a daily basis, and then separate lists for specific projects and one for general reminders (so they don't clog up my daily list). Every morning, I check the due dates and move anything current over the daily list.

    Right now, I have to re-type or copy/paste to move these items but if 'mm' worked, I could just do that.

  14. First letter of Screen name as Avatar

    Hi not every body bother to go and get a Gravatar but it would be nice if you could set the first letter of screen name as a colorful avatar. like those on yahoo site comments. This way we don't have to wait for our teammates to get gravatar to become distinguishable without 'sd' shortcut

  15. Sticky Header/Toolbar

    Header tools should stick (fixed position) to the top of the browser window so you don't have to keep scrolling up to flip between lists.

  16. YOU NEED AN UNDO BUTTON!!!!!

    I was using this program for an outline for a research speech for school. I was almost finished when all the text was highlighted and something popped up and said "this task has been performed...press this button to undo". I pressed undo thinking it would unhighlight the text, but instead deleted it all!!! I frantically tried to get my speech back, but since there is not undo button, unlike other programs like Microsoft Word, I was unable to do anything. I spent a lot of time googling to find a solution to my problem, but found NOTHING. This research speech…

  17. allow combination of checkboxes and numbered lists, as well as mix and match within a list

    Simply combine what you already have, so you can have both a checkbox and a numberlist as well as within a list have either/or (checkboxes on some items, numbers on others, nothing on some or combinations).

  18. Allow to sort items by their hierarchical positions in list on "Due" and "Search screens

    From the feedback:

    As far as I can tell, the items of a given list appear in global due/search results screens in the order in which they were created.

    It would be far more helpful if they appeared in those results in the order in which they presently appear in their list.

    I would like to be able to tag certain items and then keep an eye on them by using a web page with a URL like this:

    (#tag_name is a demonstration tag.)

  19. Pomodoro and time tracking

    I know Checkvist already has support for specifying the time estimate, but it would be really cool to track actual time spent on a task. Alternatively, it would be equally cool to have estimation of number of pomodoro sessions required for each task, and then actual tracking of the pomodoros.

    Why I think this will be useful for others? Checkvist already is the best tool out there for the divide-and-conquer strategy for getting stuff done. Pomodoro or time tracking will take it to the next level of enabling focused work, which pomodoro seems to help with
