Allow global styling by the user, font family, font size, line density, colors
Allow me to set the styling for an outline. Looks like there are fairly limited elements -- three fonts, line spacing at perhaps three levels, and indent spacing(s). Might also allow the expand/contract symbol to vary.
I consider this quite important, as I'd like styling to squeeze more on a page, with tighter spacing and smaller fonts. Web 2.0 sort of styling is nice for presentation, but not so practical for working documents.
By the moment, you can modify Checkvist presentation in the PRO plan. You can alter some colors, and provide advanced custom CSS styles which allow to change the font size. But this requires hard CSS coding. We need to provide simple way to specify different styles for a list.
The sample CSS for reducing font size in the list is:
ul.topLevel li { font-size: 12px;}
ul.topLevel ul li, ul.topLevel ul li.task { font-size: 10px;}
Some more customisation samples can be seen in this list: https://checkvist.com/checklists/486715

Hello Charlie,
Here is the link which briefly describes how to make list more compact: https://checkvist.com/checklists/486715/tasks/29951627
Hope this helps,

I can reduce the font, but I can't increase the density (reducing space between list items). Margin and padding don't seem to have effect. (Actually, that's not true. I can make the margin/padding larger, but not smaller. I assume there's something else forcing a minimum. Line-height of the ul or similar.)
I'm trying to help myself by looking at the HTML and CSS. But the HTML isn't visible in when I view source. And the CSS is highly minified. I also note that I need to use !important to make changes to top-level list items.
It would be very helpful if, on the page that gives sample CSS snippets, there was a sample or two of what the HTML looks like and what the key corresponding stock CSS is.

Want to add to this that for those comfortable enough, you can of course use your browser's Developer Tools to select elements and view the class applied for targeting your CSS styles.

Font sizes should be customizable for Print view as well

Sorry, no documentation on that. A sample styles are shown in the status of this request. If you have a specific request - please let me know.
By the way, there is a specific trick. If your list item has tags, the div for the list time has tags with name like tag_<tag name goes here>. Just in case :)

Any documentation (other than looking through the source) of existing CSS classes used?

Hello,
Actually, you can use 'tt' HTML tag to mark areas with monospace font.
On http://beta.checkvist.com, you can enable Markdown support, if you wish.
Would it work for you?

Personally, I only want Normal and Monospace, since I have a lot of code snippets as outline items. But a nice parallel to the color option would be to have a number of fonts and some similar fast-key to cycle among them.
I'm real close to ponying up for the premium option. This or offline access (if only read only) would do it for me.

Being able to easily reduce the font size of the task items is my number one request. (I'm am likely to move to a Pro account, as we're starting to share lists around the office, but unlikely to do any CSS coding). The big bold task lists are hard on the eyes and take up a lot of space. I feel like I'm reading one of my pre-schooler's picture books.

There is a workaround if you're using Checkvist Pro account.
You can use custom CSS style to change the font of the list:ul#parentTask_0 li {
color: #555;
font-family: Arial;

I would just like a font that was less black / harsh - more greyish perhaps.

May as well add a few more colors. The 4 - 9 keys aren't used for anything anyway.

More information on the screen (with at least some font selection and perhaps style attributes as well if not too much trouble) would be very helpful. I agree smaller fonts and tighter line spacing can be considered a productivity issue. Or at least make it part of the customization options that come with the pro upgrade. If you did I'd upgrade immediately. Thanks for considering.

This may seem like a silly request, but i'd like to be able to choose the color of the "completed bar" that gets automatically created for each list.
By the way ... I am more or less a GTD'er, and as a list making program alone Checkvist is really, really well thought out. Since GTD is also list-driven this is a near-perfect fit.

And the ability to save multiple styles for multiple purposes, e.g., printing, e-mailing, Large Project.

By the way, how many colors do you use in your team? What do you use them for - task assignment? Or priority?

My team and I keep things organized using color. Even if the enviroment isn't customizable, more color choices would help.
