Simplify hierarchy hoisting with straightforward up-down navigation and breadcrumbs
Limiting viewing context is, I think, a key feature in outlining. At the moment the 'hoisting' functionality is only half way there.
What I'd like to see is a simple, persistent way to maintain isolation/focus on one part of the hierarchy, and then navigate upwards / downwards through an easy shortcut, without having to use the '...' button (whose functionality I find quite confusing...).
I second the request for 'breadcrumbs' at the top.
Workflowy does this sort of thing really elegantly, although the rest of its feature set and general usability is nowhere near a match for checkvist.
Just released breadcrumbs for the hoisted view!
Here’s a short demonstration, https://blog.checkvist.com/post/181814403293/hierarchy-hoisting-now-with-breadcrumbs

I like the idea of Shift-Left going only one level up. Maybe Shift-Home could be used to return to top level?

Hello Kimon,
It is a good idea to make a shortcut to unhoist one level, but if we'll use Shift+Left for this, how would we allow to make full unhoist from the keyboard? I'd really want to provide this possibility as well.
What do you think?Regards,

Hello Kirill,
Thanks for your reply. Shift+left / Shift+right does not suit my needs because I would like, when unhoisting, to go back just one level, (i.e. to a hoisted view of the parent node), not to a view of the whole list. -
Thanks for your suggestions! Could you please describe, why shift+left, shift+right doesn't suite your needs? You don't need to use ... control to go up, shift+left will show it without using mouse.

Thanks for the idea, will think about it. Do you often need these breadcrumbs? You can see the current path to the list item by clicking those '...'.

It would be nice to show a breadcrumbs path when collapsing the view to an item, rather than showing "..." above it.
For example when viewing Item > Sub-Item > Sub-Sub-Item it would show "Item > Sub-Item" in the breadcrumbs, ideally with links to expand to any of the levels in the breadcrumbs path.
That way you can see exactly where you are but don't have the distractions of all the other lists.
