Long desc on list
Allow a long description or note are to be added to the list, not individual items, so it persists rather than losing notes when I finish the task they're mapped to. Also easier to fit with Scott Belsky's Action Steps, Ref and Backburner method.

I know this is an old idea and probably hasn't been implemented yet. I would like to express my opinion that this is quite a valid idea and does not add complexity to the interface. For each list, there should be a description section (a note attached to the list name itself). I don't want checklist name to be too long but I don't want to forget why I created it and what kind of things go in it.

Please allow a dedicated section in the list for adding notes. This is critical for providing context, linking to support documents, etc.. The problem I have with "faking" notes by adding items to the top of the list is that moving tasks with "mm" moves an item to the top of the list and not the bottom, thus putting the moved tasks on top of my list notes.
An option to move tasks to the bottom of the list with "mm" instead of the top would work for me.

Another way to make a note is to separate a note with a separator in the list, like in this list: https://checkvist.com/checklists/630571

I created a first list item that was
Credits
and gave that a note filled with everything I wanted to say. You can see it here: https://checkvist.com/checklists/636944-template-web-developer-checklist

Yes! +1 for the "note" (that can be hidden or revealed at will).

Yes. I was going to put it in terms of being able to do "nn" on the entire list, like when nothing's selected. Then it would put it up at the top. So you could use this for more of a list description; or instructions; or just notes.

+1 for the ability to add Notes to the top-parent task (just as they are addable to individual items).
I find this so essential that almost all my lists have a faked 'meta' task first and I add overall/non-item-specific notes there, not ideal but a workaround for now.

I think he wants to be able to attach a note to the list itself, rather than the items within the list. An easy workaround is to just create an item at the top of the list, and use that item for notes that apply to the entire list. As long as you don't close this item, the notes would remain active and visible. And just a comment about losing notes - notes are not lost when a task is completed - they are still there to be viewed as needed. (You may have to uncheck "hide completed tasks" from the View Options menu to see them.)

Don't quite understand, why cannot you use existing items and notes for this?
We thought about providing some kind of "Pages" as items, which would have large volumes of texts and would have rich text editor, but this is mostly visual issue. Currently, you can have ~64K of text in the item/note.
