Invite people from one's social site's friends list
It should be possible to select/import people from third party social sites like facebook, linkedin, gmail, etc. for inviting them to checkvist.

Let clients comment, even in read only
I'd like to share my list with clients read only, so they know what I'm up to, but I'd also like them to comment on tasks at hand.
It would be great if they could leave a comment on a task, without having to log in. Just leave their email address and maybe some captcha anti-spam or something. How does that sound?
6 votesInvited list readers can now add notes/comments (‘nn’) to tasks assigned to them (‘ae’).
I think this almost covers the needs of this request, right?

Sort by closest due date
It would be nice if I could sort projects (the main page) by closest due date. So, Project X has a task due in 2 weeks, but Project Y has one due in 5 days, I'd like Project Y to be on top of my list.

Introduce default collapse level for lists
So if a user visits the list the first time, they see the list fully collapsed. The same applies to guest users who visit a published list
5 votesNot the complete solution, but after the latest checkvist update public lists are shown to not logged users expanded to 1 level only, deeper tasks are collapsed.

Add another category for due dates - "someday".
Like ASAP but the items appear BELOW dated tasks.

Create list API
It would be really useful to have an API that would allow us to create a new List based on a List Template (or another list). Similar to the "copy list" option currently available in the interface but via an API (maybe a simple html call), where you can specify the source List template, the name of the new list, and maybe even with who you want to share the list.

checkvist RSS support
Please create Per Task-List rss for several options: all changes, New Tasks, completed tasks
RSS is easy to use and I can publish to non-checkvist users31 votes -
bug: cut & paste doesn't work
bug: I cut & pasted a task to a new list using CTRL-X/V, in the list of lists, the count of tasks has gone up, but I can't see the task if I open the list

don't consider every item as a task (setting on a per-list basis)
Most of my outline are just notes, they don't need any action -- Checkvist would become 100x more useful if I could mark out just selected items as tasks, then in checklist view I would be retrieving just the tasks from within all my outline.
It's a very simple feature (add option to turn off auto-tasking for a given list) that would add TREMENDOUS flexibilty to this amazing app. Then I truly wouldn't be able to live without it!
3 votesPlease explain what exactly do you mean by “turn of autotasking”? I also use Checkvist primarily for outlines, and see no currently. What changes do you expect?

optional: hide the bulleting, only show on mouseover
The little arrows at the side of each outline item, used to collapse/show children, could optionally stay hidden until you hovered your mouse on that area.
I use Checkvist more for notes/ideas outlining than tasks, so the arrows really detract from the flow of the text.

Add a little chat widget like in GMail
Also the ability to see who else is currently editing the document would be nice - as it is, I find notes for my attention scattered throughout the document. That's probably just my contributors, but there you go.

Add default settings for new lists: numbering, hide completed and others.
I tend to create a lot of lists for short projects or just for days of my life. And I hate to always remember to go and configure settings the same way.

Postpone Task: Hide until given date
Put a task off until later. Either indefinitely, or have it appear again at a given date. For instance, if I need to have my car inspected, I can't do that until it is due for inspection next year. So if I create the task now, it should be either hidden, or placed in a "scheduled for later" folder until I can act on it. (This request will depend on due dates being implemented first.)

Works poorly on Opera browser.
I'm on opera on Mac. Shift-move tasks around works screwy.
