Email in tasks
Ability to email in items like with Nozbe, Remember The Milk etc; I would like to be able to 'phone in' tasks using Dial2Do (similar to Jott).

Will there be a possibility to add text search for any and all notes ... Workflowy, also an outliner, has this feature, as does Microsoft One-Note? Just curious ...

This is a simple mail-in service for Checkvist: http://mail2cv.com

Jacob, thanks a lot for the suggestion! Sounds really useful and I've re-posted it to our Checkvist Friends forum: https://plus.google.com/111954600760462055695/posts/bfH1hMhQeb8

Append to txt ist better.
A workaround is to use a text editor on your phone (I use drafts for iPhone) that can append your inbox item to a txt file in dropbox. Then you can paste it in checkvist using the shortcut 'im' once a day, and you'll be able to process your items from there.
It sounds like many steps, but since the creating (with Drafts) is so fast, and it syncs to dropbox, it's a lot quicker as a hole than for example nozbe and rtm.

Sorry, we don't have neither estimates for this feature, nor nearest plans for implementing it.

is there a to approx date for this feature?

I would prefer to email in a list of task, separated by an empty line, like I do now through the mobile web ui but less error prone (copy paste causes symbian to lose notes sometimes - no undo - if I misspress a key once)

Every once in a while I return here to see if something has happened with this request. Still use Checkvist only for Private Stuff, for work stuff I just need the "email-in" feature too much, so I use a different ToDo-Programm. Would loove to fully switch ;)

@Ricardo, thanks for sharing your ideas on this!

Oh, and, to make this suggestion of mine compatible with what you said Kir, there would be different addresses to send multi-line entries and single-task entries with notes. The latter being just as simple as you said, the former working without a subject line and with attention to the adequate notation.

Also add a default email address (no need to be private even, so users won't need to memorize anything secret) to where one could send even an empty email, whenever necessary, and get back a list of all the lists with their respective email addresses + a refresh on the instructions to use email with checkvist. Now these would of course be unique and private.
Another thing, let's say list number 48392's secret address becomes compromised. The list had the email e.g. list-48392-j39fh4@checkvist.com; the user could send a message to list-48392-j39fh4-reset@checkvist.com and a message would be sent to the user's account saying that list-48392-j39fh4@checkvist.com is now trashed and the new email for that list is list-48392-newrandomrode@checkvist.com
And I'm also thinking that fetching a full list via email could come in handy, too. All this can be facilitated by the autoresponder to that generic address I suggested above.
The ultimate for-behind-crazy-firewalls-only would be a way to, via email, 1) lock a list [in case it's shared this is important] 2) send back a full replacement for a given list after changes (e.g. via reply)
In regards to this last idea, it would be necessary to be very careful about the indentation issue. I would perhaps suggest an indentation notation like the following for lists handled via email if you ever want to have a go at such a feature:
Parent
\ Child
\ \ Child of childCheers!

Great suggestion, Kirill. I am really keen on this E-Mailing-In-Feature ;) Keep up the great work!

I like more the idea to assign a unique e-mail to each list.
E-mail subject could be the task, E-mail body - a note to the created task (if not empty). -

Would be great.
Option One: Subject is the task with the the possibility to add tags and due dates with known syntax, body is note
Option Two: Subject is the List name, body contains per line one task that would be added to the specified list -

This would make it compatible with EVERYTHING!

HUGE improvement.

In my view this would be a huge improvement and upgrade to Checkvist. Ideally each list should have its own email address, like 37Signal's Backpack. Really hoping this one's on the roadmap!

I've written a Python script to do this for me. Feel free to grab a copy from http://www.martinbrook.com/checkvist-emai/ if you'd find it useful.

why stop at email? Instant Message, via phone (text to speaech, iPhone applet etc.
BTW, there is a tool to do this it is found at www.reqall.com
I am hoping checkvist and reqall can collaborate but they may be competitive. I think the input and output of reQall is more refined but the TASK management at checkvist is SOOOOO Much better and flexible. I use reQall for family obligations and major reminders where I want SMS, email and Instant Message to remind me about something. ReQall keeps sending you IMs until you reply back and say you did X. I willl put 3 votes on this. -

Yes. No need to be too fancy. With email to checkvist you could easily create workarounds to get tasks in (via pingme, dial2do, jott, etc)
