Postpone Task: Hide until given date
Put a task off until later. Either indefinitely, or have it appear again at a given date. For instance, if I need to have my car inspected, I can't do that until it is due for inspection next year. So if I create the task now, it should be either hidden, or placed in a "scheduled for later" folder until I can act on it. (This request will depend on due dates being implemented first.)

really like this idea, would allow my lists to be wildly less cluttered. you could basically make a task act very similarly to a completely task, until the due date is triggered -- at which time it pops back into view. Due dates are great, but given that their purpose is largely to remind you in the future it would be great to be able to put items out of sight and mind until then

You could achieve this with the "task generators" which I described in a comment on the "repeating setting" idea. I imagine that task generators would be hidden in the default view for a list, though there might be some icon which makes sure there are generators associated with this list.

This is a great idea! I was looking for 'start dates' but this is basically the same thing. Could even just have another version of the 'grayed out' look (like completed and invalidated).

Good idea. I even add my own votes to it. :)
