Ability to add Priority to tasks
Checkvist uses colors for priorities, we won’t add other attribute for that. After the last update, you can search and filter by color/priority as well.

Be careful about priority should not be fixed by the developer like in Outlook. Some people use ABC123, 12345, covey matrix, GTD etc

I don't think we'll add a "starred" tasks. So far you can mimic this with red color and order your tasks by color.
The missing thing is cross-list search for priority tasks. We're going to address this with the search: http://checkvist.uservoice.com/forums/2121-general/suggestions/80627-implement-a-search?ref=title

Thiago and Roberto, it sounds like this would mean that "tasks due today" WITH a priority would be shown separately from "tasks due today" that do not have a priority. That would be confusing to me. I would like to see all "tasks due today" together (just like on the current Due Tasks view) but have the ability to FILTER by priority. Or even simpler, FILTER by color. So if "red background" is used for highest priority tasks you could filter by "red background" and see just those highest-priority tasks, in their due-date groupings.

i agree with thiago. "starred" task can be a good solution, to put above all other tasks.

I think prioritys could be handled just like Due tasks, but above the list. The prioritys would be always separeted and above all the other tasks.
assigning a priority number to a task would take it to the Priority section above the task list.
Would help me in a way that i cant even explain. Please work on that!
When you have a huge, complex list, its vary difficult to stay focused and organized with the tasks you need to do next, or in that specific day.

I would like to filter by priority - such as - On the "due tasks" view, "just show tasks with priority x and above" for example. Could also perhaps do this with filter by color. But the "filter" is important. If you have multiple lists, there is no way to see just the "color-tagged" (high priority) items all together. They are instead at the top of each individual list, with lower-priority items in between. Need a way to either see JUST the high priority items, or to see them all at the top. Currently I do this by giving them a due date of yesterday (so they are overdue) but that is cumbersome.

ability to mark tasks with color is helpful but i always have like marking tasks with a number from 0-10 to mark priority, allows me to sort tasks by priority number.
-
BTW, sorting by color has already been implemented. Does it work for you as a priority marker? What other options do you need?

The ASAP feature is great but we also need the opposite, ie "Low priority" - sometimes every task on a list can be assumed to be ASAP, so a no-due-date task would be the exception rather than the rule, and should be able to be flagged as such, rather than ASAP-ing all the other tasks.

Yes, sorting by color would solve the priority issue. I think this is the way most people use the colors anyway.

Hi
I think possibility of view all tasks by color (priority) would be great idea. For example you could see all red colored (high priority) tasks in one list.

I agree, tagging would solve most issues with Checkvist. But if priority were to be added as well I don't think I would complain. I guess color coding can be used for priorities if you desire. Would there ever be a way to sort by priority, or color?

Let me know if I'm harping unnecessarily on the "tagging" request, but it seems a tagging system would enable users to add priority tags like P1, P2, P3 and then search across all lists for the tags.

If you do GTD, GTD does not "require" priorities. I don't think this would be a good road to head down.

There is an enhancement we plan to add: http://checkvist.uservoice.com/pages/2121-general/suggestions/186894-toggle-colors-on-off-by-hitting-number-or-shift-number-twice

I really like the built-in text & background colors. They seem like good priority markers as they are.

Color support has just been added.

Yeah, have 4-5 distinct colours for each priorities - with accompanying keyboard shortcuts - ability to mark multiple items with a certain priority.

using task ordering for setting priority is a good point!

and why not to use task oredring for it? it's simplier, isn't it?
