ability to define types of lists
Thinking again in GTD terms ... some lists are lists of tasks, while others are lists of shopping items, items to take on a trip, etc.
I'm suggesting the ability to make a list of a certain type (hm, maybe list of items vs. list of tasks), so that at least visually at the main interface, you don't have a "% completed bar" simply for items that are not tasks. (i.e. a list such as @Shopping, @Grocery, etc.) .
The main interface right now assumes that every list you are creating is a list of tasks, which seems a little funky for GTD lists such as @SomedayMaybe that do not have a lot of urgency.

As lists can be assigned tags, I recommend using tags for indicating the kind of list. These tags will show up in the view that shows active lists.

I agree. It is clear that this app was designed as an outliner primarily (which is fine). But for people like me who would love to use this type of app for an all around list manager, it would be nice to define what type of list is being created.
I typically end up ignoring the % completed anyway since I am always adding and completing tasks in my checkvist anyway. I use my lists as ongoing task lists. ie: I have one list entitled FITFX (which is my day job). I put any task related to that in this list. Within that list I have 3 sub lists (print, web, computers). These lists will never be "completed" so the % bar is useless for me there.
However, I could see this being useful for projects that have a definitive end goal.
