How can we improve Checkvist?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    Along with the existing color & due-date sorting, I would find alphabetic sorting handy.

  2. Code Block Formatting Issues

    There are a few formatting issues when using preformatted text:

    Linkification

    If a URL is inside of a code block (i.e. wrapped with ` characters), it is linkified like other task text. However, the auto-generated link is also displayed in the code block.

    For example, the following code block:

    test http://checkvist.com

    Will be displayed as:

    test <a href="http://checkvist.com">http://checkvist.com`

    Entity Conversion

    Some entities are converted, but not displayed properly.

    For example, the less-than character (<) is converted to "<" and the entity code is displayed in the code block rather than the actual symbol. The resulting entity code is also…

  3. Filtering by specific Due Dates

    Maybe I'm missing something: when I click on a due date, let's say "Jan 13", the filter is set to "^next week". This is of course also useful, but sometimes I am just interested in tasks due on "Jan 13". Is there a way to filter for those tasks?

  5. Share via link, with a password

    I want to share checklists with people who may not appreciate being asked to sign-up for the service just to view them, but I don't necessarily just want to publish the list for the universe and Google's web crawlers. I'd like password-protected lists so that I can selectively share with certain people by giving them a link and a password.

  6. have a way to break out a branch into a new seperate list

    As your tree gets bigger and bigger, sometimes whole branches need to be split off as new checklists. Right now that requires copying or cutting the branch, making a new checklist, pasting, and then cleaning it up by backing up each major subsection and deleting the top level item, as that is probably now the title of this list.

    Complementary to that would be a feature to take a whole list and insert it into another one with the title being the top level element.

  7. Tab crashing/freezing in Google Chrome

    I'm using Google Chrome 15.0.874.121, running on Ubuntu Linux 10.04.

    Sometimes, when a new task is being added, at the point where Checkvist would normally expand the text box automatically as I type, the whole browser tab becomes unresponsive.

    I can work-around this by hitting Return after a few words (before the text box would be auto-expanded) and then double-E to edit the item and add the rest of the sentance. The bug only seems to hit for items that are being newly added.

  10. 2 Enters to start another new task

    When I create a task, I click enter to finalize it. This is all good, except the natural function is to start a new task below it. Is there any way to stop this from happening. It seems a little unnatural. I have to click Enter, then "ESC" or click out of the task to get it to go away.

    I would propose you click enter to add the current task, and then you would have to click enter AGAIN to start a new task.

    Thoughts?

  11. "Due tasks" screen improvements - keyboard navigation & sort order

    need ability to navigate the "Due tasks" screen via keyboard. can be a simplified version of navigation:
    - up/down arrows to move up and down between items
    - 'gg' to go to highlighted item's checklist
    - 'dd' to change due date
    - 'spacebar' to mark complete from this screen without having to open up each checklist
    (these would collectively prevent mouse use on this screen - a big plus)

    also the sort order of items should match actual checklists. for example, if i have 3 items of the same hierarchy all marked 'asap' in a deliberate order, that order may…

  12. Allow to paste images via clipboard as attachments

    hello, I use checkvist to make reading notes. One thing I used to do copy an image with right click then "ctrl-v". the image will automatically be uploaded to website and/or displayed. trello / dropbox paper support such operations.

    checkvist can easily drag & drop to upload images/attachments. But it require saving to local folder first.

  14. Checkvist is Down! Anyone facing the same problem?

    Checkvist is down. Some notifications can be sent to Users of Checkvist - confirming how long it may take to come back - what is the problem etc. Currently the site is down and everyone is in dark thinking will this ever come back etc.

  15. Browser bookmarklet: show top sub-levels of target list

    When dropping a URL to list via the bookmarklet, the bookmarklet shows all lists. It would be great if it could show also the top 1, 2 or 3 top level of the list hierarchy.

    It's ok if it can't show all, or if it can't show the most current. If some of the most important ones will be shown, that would enable dropping a link to List:Work/project/monthly meeting topics

  17. Search/filtering box in compact view

    Currently there is no way to access the search box through checkvist's compact view (http://checkvist.com/iframe.html). I use the compact view to setup checkvist as an App on my macbook (through Fluid). It'll be great if I can use the same "/" or "ff" shortcuts to search tasks in this view as we do on the full blown web page.

  18. Google Calendar not updating new events/better integration

  19. Bring back "Under" display in Due Tasks view.

    With the recent Due Tasks enhancements, one critical feature was lost. The "Under" display (showing the tree structure for the task) no longer displays on the screen in the Due Tasks view. It was changed to a "display on hover" feature. This means I can no longer see which project my Due Tasks fall into without hovering over each of the Tasks. And then I can only see one at a time. I have dozens of Due tasks with the same text. It is now impractical to use the Due Tasks screen to manage my work, because I can't see…
