  1. Rather than simply linking to a list/sublist, which embeds a hyperlink in my existing list, a real killer feature would be to actually embed that sublist in my current list. This would be have a lot like a symlink, with the key feature being that if I edit something in the sublist that edit is reflected everywhere in Checkvist that that sublist appears.

Example use case: If I am listing out travel ideas by Geography as follows:
    - Italy
    --- Wine tasting
    - Puerto Rico:
    --- Caving
    -------- Tour operators information
    -------- links
-------- other information specific to puerto rico…

  2. Is there any plan for providing an on-site version of Checkvist? I work for a software company that deals with live Internet core security issues, and would love to use Checkvist to track progress on all the different issues we deal with. However, we are forbidden from posting security-related information externally.

My company would pay for an on-site version of Checkvist and maintain it ourselves (we have a dedicated internal operations group just for that purpose). Has anyone else made a similar request?

  3. When I'm adding items in checkvist, my vim muscle memory often takes over and I hit Esc when done. This undoes my edit instead of leaving the text as is.

If I want to undo something, I'd normally hit Esc followed by "u" (Ctrl+Z is already there and that'd be fine, I figured I'd ask for what I really want :D)

  5. I love Checkvist.
I want daily updates with project names and key words to be in my EVERNOTE, so that I can link them to documents and relevant information stored in EVERNOTE.
I want my day to day email application to get DUE date reminders from Checkvist.

Today, I am not able to have seperate emails for these two functions.

Please vote for this if you use Evernote.

This can be solved with a free GMail account:
    1. Create a GMail account
    2. Create a filter in the account to forward messages with subject “Checkvist: daily digest of changes” to your EVERNOTE e-mail address (EVERNOTE allows to send notes by e-mail)
    3. Create a filter which forwards all other messages to your daily mail account
    4. In checkvist, change your e-mail address to address in GMail.

  6. As many people use the Spaces feature of Leopard in Mac OS is not very convenient to use the default shortcut to shift between spaces for moving tasks up and down.

Could you please check whether address has been entered correctly, and if so, please check spam filter. I’ve just verified – the invitation was sent successfully. If this won’t help, please send the problematic e-mail address to kirsa % checkvist.com. Thanks!

  8. I have tried important at the top level of the list (without selecting any tasks to import information under), and the website says that the import is complete, but the information does not appear. If I then select an existing task level under which to import the text, then the text appears immediately. Is this a glitch (should the tasks appear at the top level of the list as the confirmation message at the top says?) or is this a system limitation (i.e., you cannot import at the top level of the list)?

  12. Having made a public list, it is showing my e-mail address, and sd shows who last updated the tasks. (email address)

Isn't this a bad thing, spammer wise?

If it is showing id instead of e-mail list, I've been forced to use my e-mail address as my id - different places want id vs. e-mail, and it became too confusing to use and share with in any other fashion than using e-mail addresses as id's. e.g. Sharing a list.

On a public list, this information should be obfuscated.

Perhaps clicking on the obfuscated text one could get a note to…

  13. Create the ability to view tasks in a calendar mode.

When you assign a date to a task it automatically goes to the calendar. In the calendar view you would see all tasks from all lists.

This way it would be easyer to keep track of task dates in complex lists.

  15. It would be great to have column support. Even greater if the columns content could be costumizable (spreadsheet-like). See Omniutliner example to see what I mean. This desktop outliner doesn't have any real competition, unfortunately. But Checvist couls be its cloud rival. It misses some formatting but, especially, the column options.

  16. Just like adding a tag is #mytag and due is ^duedate, there should be a way to add a task to a specific list via for example =mylist.

When entering lots of todos, instead of having to write in each one and then delegate them to the right list, you would be able to add it to the right list quickly via natural language. Especially helpful when writing in the 2Checkvist bookmarklet.

You can choose target list (with completion) in the 2Checkvist bookmarklet already. Use shift+tab to avoid mouse clicking.
There is probably no much gain in using in-line syntax with this regard, the proposed functionality is rather hidden and duplicating.

For ordinary lists, adding a task to another list (not current) is counter-intuitive.

  18. Generate a webform with request for completion verification (checkbox or text) for some or all items.

This could be insanely useful, but I can see it taking a lot of resources to implement.

Once again, great work on a good and very clean useful service.

Sorry, Brennan, I think this request is out of the scope of our tool. It is possible to create some outline with tags and have some external tool which would convert it into some form you need (from OPML export file, for instance).

But it is definitely not the core functionality of the Checkvist.
