Checkvist Web

Welcome to Checkvist official feedback forum. Do you have an idea on how to make https://checkvist.com more usable? We want to hear from you!

How can we improve Checkvist?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Toggle tag visibility

    Imagine this.

You conscientiously tag your Checkvist tasks. You use a *lot* of tags.

You find the tasks you want to work on by searching by tag.

You now want to focus on JUST the tasks (forget the tags), wouldn't it be great to be able to toggle tag visibility?

We can already toggle detail and context in various bits of the UI, how hard can it be ? :)

  2. Show progress counter/time estimates on the due page

Use case: to see how many hours of work are scheduled for today/tomorrow.

  3. Inherit tags from parent nodes

I have seen this feature in mindmapping software and would personally find it useful. For example, when I am looking at my due tasks, i tend to filter by tag. Every single task needs to be separately tagged, or it won't appear when filtered. If they inherited tags this would be more straightforwards (NB I can understand that many people may not like this, but one could make this behaviour optional)

  4. tag autocomplete on Mobile

I like how the desktop version will autocomplete tags with either the 'tt' command, or when typing a '#' while editing. It would be nice if the Mobile version would autocomplete tags as well.
Perhaps also a 'Tags' command could be added to the "..." menu for selected items on Mobile (add next to the Priority, Notes, Delete commands).

  5. tag colors on Mobile

I use tag colors as a Pro subscriber. It would be nice if the Mobile PWA app would paint with the same colors as I have set in the full Web version.

  6. "Due" view by list

Checkvist is good enough to use it for personal and professional todo lists (splitted, for sure)…
But these are 2 different worlds and you may expect to use the "due" view for only one of the lists, and not see your "profesionnal" deadlines when checking your personal planning.

Regarding this, I would really like to have a way to display tasks of one list (or maybe many).

There can be many ways to allow to filter the list(s). Here are some ideas:
    # add a new “list:xxx” filter
    # add the possibility to get the “due” view for ore list …

  7. Not always useful that a task is automatically completed when subtasks are completed

The auto completion of a task when all sub tasks are completed is useful but not in all circumstances.

For example when I manage a project I may have tasks that, in reality, are more like categories and they may contain sub-categories.

I would like to keep these always "not completed" unless I complete them manually as I may add new tasks to them later and therefore it would greatly help if they are always visible and not marked as completed with the line across (when not hiding completed tasks).

  8. Completed repeating task reappears

    Full details at https://discuss.checkvist.com/t/completed-repeating-task-reappears/143

In sum: I have a task that is set up to repeat once a week and generated 2 days before the due date. If I complete the task before the due date, I find that the task will reappear in my task list. It would be nice to have a task be completed until the next time it reoccurs.

  9. Copy-paste menu items

The desktop version is almost useful in android - So close! - which would be a big advantage at times, since there are important things that can be fine there but not on mobile. With an external keyboard it works absolutely fine, but without one the most glaring lack is copy-paste to move items. There is an item for that in the help menu to the right, but unlike other items the link doesn't work. If there were just a copy and a paste option on the long press menu (aa), I would be a happy camper. Would that be…

  10. [Bug] Adding a task while being in focus mode in another window displays the task in the "focus" window

    1. Open 2 checkvist windows on the same list
    2. Window 1: focus on one root task (shift ->)
    3. Window 2: add a root task

    What happens?
Added task is displayed in Window 1.

    What is expected?
Task is not a sub-task of task focused, so it shouldn't display.

(It also happens at other levels, but only when added task is sibling of the focused task.)

  11. Daily quota

I keep going back and forth between Checkvist (awesome for outlining and planning!) and Todoist (habit-forming).

The only thing that keeps drawing me back to Todoist is the ability to track # of tasks completed by day (and week). Keeping up a "streak" of 5+ tasks per day, though they are of all different shapes and sizes does something psychologically to keep me engaged with my organization system. I could of course just tally my tasks in a .txt, but it would be nice to be able to do it right in the organization system itself. Complete engagement.

    Checkvist is…

  12. Bug: filtering returns parents of completed tasks when completed tasks hidden

When I filter a list completed tasks hidden using a single filter (e.g. color: 1) parent items with a completed task of color: 1 are shown but no children.

This is counter-intuitive, any chance it could be fixed?

  13. Why does right arrow gets stuck on a note?

The "right arrow" shortcut comes to a dead end when it reaches a note. Shouldn't it continue through the notes and down to the next item, like "down arrow" does?

  14. UI should update faster during collaboration

When several people work simultaneously on the same list, UI updates but with a noticeable delay, about 10 seconds. It would be nice to work collaboration more instant.

  15. charlesheckscher@gmail.com

Not sure if this is already possible: I'd like to be able to import or paste items with links. The Checkvist link structure ([link: ] is fine for most purposes, but when I paste in text from other web site with links, the links gets lost in Checkvist. Is there a way around that now, or could there be?

  16. Allow to disable HTML rendering globally in Settings

If I write code snippets in the tasks body everything between angle brackets disappear. The only workaround seems to put the code inside a Markdown code block. However, I disabled Markdown globally, and enabling it would instead break code snippets using parts symbols reserved by Markdown syntax (as an asterisk for a simple formula snippet). It would be far easier to me if I could disable all interpretation of text as HTML or Markdown and just work in plain old text (I have no qualms with losing the automatic conversion of URLS to hyperlinks). For a programmer, like me, is…

  17. iframe support to embed to files in cloud storage (e.g. onedrive...)

    I couldn't tell if iframe was supported (example: <iframe src="https://onedrive.live.com/embed?cid=F2A6434F807CE5F6&resid=F2A6434F807CE5F6%21115463&authkey=AAjniHLdBgWFVIU&em=2&quot; width="476" height="288" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe> )

  19. Allow search of all tagged items

Please consider a "tag:any" search option so that users can search for any tagged item in a list. One of the use cases for this feature request is for list items that move between states by way of tags, i.e. initial state may be #new and then the item is re-tagged as #processing, or another example would be who the item was parked with like #steeringcommittee or #dev or #testing or #UAT.

Viewing all tagged items in one list would allow users to re-tag the state of multiple items without the need to return to the tag list over and…
