It would be great if one could attach (drag and drop) photos and docs
Hi,
I absolutely love Checkvist, congratulations to the developers. One ingenious feature would be if the users could drag and drop photos, word documents or sound files into the Checkvist window and attach these to a task. This way, I could discuss with my colleagues whether we want photo a or photo b in a particular section. I could also share the most recent version of a document and everyone could download it being sure that they are working with the newest version.
I hope this makes it into the software!
Cheers,
Eric

Olli, thanks a lot for the bugreport with animated gif. Indeed, it doesn't work and we'll fix it before the release.

I would like to be able to upload this from my pc. So far, checkvist uploads it, reaches 100%, but then nothing appears.
Of course I understand animated gifs may not be your top priority :) -

I cannot explain how muuuuch I would love to see file attachments implemented with dropbox integration.
Anyway, attachments is the only big which I need to fully use checkvist.
Keep up the good work :) -

Love it! :)

Attachments actually will be released rather soon (before the summer, with our estimates). We'll keep them in the cloud, probably in Amazon.
Integration with Dropbox is an interesting idea, and we thought about this, but decided to implement own storage first.

I think the way Sparrow (sparrowapp.com) has integrated Dropbox for attachments to mail. Perhaps something Checkvist could look at?
Link Dropbox to your account, and when you drag a file into a list, it gets saved in Dropbox, rather than on the Checkvist server. -

I'm going to go with the "Link, Don't Host" crowd on this, because hosting as some have suggested would increase complexity immensely, where linking to hosting services (vimeo, box, google docs, yousendit folders, etc) with a little icon for each service you're directing users out to would be as lightweight as the existing tagging mark-up system.

I second (or fifth) Dean's suggestion. I'm using this to plan out development projects, and attaching wireframes and screenshots is essential. The ability to attach other types of documents would be nice as well.

We're going to add attachments, but please note, that right now you can use GMail integration to add links to your e-mails directly to Checkvist.
At least, if you're using GMail :)

I have the same situation as Mark - emails all over the place with attachments from clients. Would be great to attach documents (even just one per task!) for reference.

Attaching documents to taks would be great. No need for fancy interfaces like drag/drop, but at least if we can update docs somehow it would be the best!

For my use of Checkvist, I only need task management. I do not require file management. Adding file management would increase the code, the complexity and the loading times.

do not need to host the files at checkvist, could use a reference to google docs or other file storage service

I will be happy if I could upload files. A thought: establish 1MB by file and 200MB by account that would help a lot.

I love Dean's idea. Right now, my email box is a mess with a bunch of attachments from clients, so it would be awesome if I could centralize that into Checkvist.
I'm voting +3, but for Dean's idea (although Eric's started off good :))

I love this idea. There are many docs (Word, PDF, Excel, etc.) that I would like to access easily within my CheckVist. Right now I am using a free Box.net account to accomplish something similar, but integrating and streamlining this feature would be awesome, especially for the less technically-savvy user. PRO users could get a little bit of Hard Drive space, with the option to purchase more as needed. Dragging and dropping the image or doc would create a copy on the virtual hard drive and instantly create an html link to access it. Brilliant!

So far, you can use HTML to include images to tasks and comments
