automatic backups to dropbox or email
have got a pro user account so I have the cloud backups available but would really love to have the ability to have these backups automatically synced to my dropbox account or email as although the cloud is very safe I would feel better using checkvist for work when I know I got a daily backup on my own machines

Easy linking to existing lists and tasks
We already allow to create links to tasks and lists using HTML syntax, using smart syntax [link: text|URL] and [list: text|istID].
But it is not very easy to find out the URL of the target task/link.
For a task, it requires enabling "show details" mode and mouse hovering on the date of the last task modification. We should provide more easy way for creating links to other lists/tasks, probably with completion by name.

Keyboard Navigation in DueDate-Calendar, increment/decrement due
Checkvist is great because of easy Keyboard navigation! Everytime I press "dd", I am surprised that I cannot navigate with my keyboard within the calendar to chose the date. I sort of expect CTRL or ALT plus arrows.

Add More Time Options on "Due" display
It would be helpful to add more time options on "Due" outside of "tomorrow" and "later".
My suggestion is to add "This week", "Next week", "This month" between "tomorrow" and "Later". Or anything better.
In this way I can have more control on my schedule.
Thanks for considering that.

Do not delete the parent when you delete the last child!
I may have a project or program where I have not determined any more next steps, but I am not ready to close out. If I delete the last child, the parent goes away and then I forget about the project for a while. I can't afford to do that!
Thanks!25 votesFixed on production, there is an option in Profile=>Customize to enable this behaviour

Sort by modified date (aka 'last update')
It would be really helpful to have a 4th sort option within a list, to sort by modified date (aka 'last update'). This could apply only to the parent task level so that any details under that task would retain the custom order set by the user. Or have the option to apply the sort to 1, 2, or 3 levels deep to accommodate more working styles (even better).
This would also add consistency to the experience since the lists themselves already support sorting by last update (both on the homepage and in the list navigation menu at the top…

Add Smart Syntax for priority and color
It would be really convenient if I could specify the priority or color when I create or edit the task using Smart Syntax.
This may seem trivial but the Smart Syntax is really convenient for tags and dates because it helps keep your frame of reference while you're still thinking about the task.
It would also be really helpful when importing multiple tasks, including a hierarchy of tasks. Just as checkvist can be asked to parse the tags and dates on each line, it could also parse priorities and colors.
My suggestion is to introduce another prefix character, such as…

Optional % complete/done/progress indicator
I would like to be able to (optionally) indicate what percent done a task is... and have that be seen in the task details area next to the task name

Search box does not search notes
When I perform a keyword search from the main search box, it does not seem to search the notes, just the task titles. Please include the notes boxes in the search function. Thank you!

You can try it now, before release, and let us know if you notice any oddities.

Simplify hierarchy hoisting with straightforward up-down navigation and breadcrumbs
Limiting viewing context is, I think, a key feature in outlining. At the moment the 'hoisting' functionality is only half way there.
What I'd like to see is a simple, persistent way to maintain isolation/focus on one part of the hierarchy, and then navigate upwards / downwards through an easy shortcut, without having to use the '...' button (whose functionality I find quite confusing...).
I second the request for 'breadcrumbs' at the top.
Workflowy does this sort of thing really elegantly, although the rest of its feature set and general usability is nowhere near a match for checkvist.
17 votesJust released breadcrumbs for the hoisted view!
